Covid-19: India imposes a total lockdown on its entire 1.3 Billion population

Prime minister Narendra Modi today announced a 21-day ‘total lockdown’ across all India effective from Midnight in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus.

“To save India and every Indian, there will be a total ban on venturing out of your homes,” he said In a televised address to the nation today.

Modi also urged the 1.3billion Indians to avoid the panic-buying, as food stores would remain open.  

India has so far recorded over 500 Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths.
