PUTRAJAYA NOV.4: Only four new clusters at the work places are detected with COVID-19 today namely one each in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Pahang involving 54 cases while only one in the community with 19 cases, however 5, 713 new cases are recorded nationwide bringing the cumulative total to 2,492,343.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 5,865 cases were cured adding to the cumulative total to 2,396,244 or 96.1 per cent with 555 cases were admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 280 needed respiratory assistance.
Dr. Noor Hisham added, from the new cases, 93 (1.6 per cent) were categories three, four and five and another 5,620 cases (98.4 per cent) were from categories one and two.
In another development, Dr. Noor Hisham said, The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) in its ongoing studies conducted by the Institute of Health and Community Medicine (IHCM-UNIMAS), UKM Medical Molecular Biology (UMBI-UKM), Integrative Pharmacogenomics Institute (iPROMISE-UiTM) and Malaysia Genome Institute (MGI) have identified a total of 1,047 new cases all of which are Variant of Concern (VOC) i.e. Delta variant (B.1.617.2).
“IHCM-UNIMAS has identified 790 cases of Delta variant (B.1.617.2), UMBI-UKM has identified 113 cases of Delta variant (B.1.617.2), iPROMISE-UiTM identified 96 cases of Delta variant (B.1.617 .2), and MGI has identified 48 cases of Delta variants (B.1.617.2),” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.
Dr. Noor Hisham added, this brings the cumulative number of cases infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus categorized as VOC and Variant of Interest (VOI) to 3,692 cases. Of the total detected, 3,672 cases were VOC while 20 cases were VOI. Overall, to date, for VOCs there are 3,432 Delta variant cases; 226 Beta variant cases; and14 Alpha variant cases.
While for VOI cases, Dr. Noor Hisham said, there are 13 cases of Theta variant, four cases of Kappa variants and three cases of Eta variants.
Meanwhile the infectivity rate of COVID-19 of Malaysia recorded today is 0.94 while the states include Putrajaya with 1.07; Negeri Sembilan (1.02); Perlis (1.01); Kuala Lumpur (1.01); Melaka (1.01); Selangor (1.00); Kedah (0.99); Pahang (0.99); Sabah (0.99); Kelantan (0.93); Terengganu (0.89); Pulau Pinang (0.89); Sarawak (0.87); Johor (0.87); Perak (0.85) and Labuan (0).-Malaysia World News
