PUTRAJAYA JUNE 23: Malaysia has recorded 5,244 new COVID-19 cases adding the cumulative total to 711,006 while 6,372 had been discharged bringing the total to 645,553 or 90.8 per cent.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, from the new cases, 879 were admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 433 needed respiratory aids.
He said, 83 death cases were reported bringing the death toll to 4,637 or 0.65 per cent involving 77 citizens and six foreigners.
Dr. Noor Hisham added, from the 83 deaths, 35 were in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (9), Johor (8), each seven cases in Sabah and Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan (6), three each in Sarawak and Labuan, Perak (2) and one each in Kedah, Melaka and Perlis.
“From the new COVID-19 cases, 4,291 or 81.9 per cent were Malaysians while 946 or 18.1 per cent non- citizens with seven imported cases involving four Malaysians and three non-citizens,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement here today.
Meanwhile 60,816 were active cases with 24 new clusters reported today and out of which 15 were from work places, seven in the community, one high risk and another one cluster involving detention centre.
Selangor remains contributing the highest number of new COVID-19 cases recording 2,001, Kuala Lumpur (531), Johor (282), Sabah (129), Sarawak (577), Negeri Sembilan (677), Kelantan (81), Penang (159), Perak (75), Kedah (189), Melaka (180), Pahang (245) Terengganu (27), Labuan (77), Putrajaya (13) and Perlis (1).-Malaysia World News
