PUTRAJAYA JUNE 30: Effective 1st July 2022, the ceiling prices namely the standard chicken is RM9.40 per kilogramme while 0.45 sen per egg for grade A, 0.43 sen for grade B and 0.41 sen for grade C in the Peninsular Malaysia.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee said, the government had agreed not to float the price of standard chicken but instead fix its ceiling price including the egg.
“With the implementation of the subsidy, the government had allocated RM369.5 million contributing to the subsidy totalling to RM1.1 billion since 5th February 2022.
“The increase in the prices of food commodities does not only happen in Malaysia as it is a global phenomenon following the “disturbances” in the supply network due to the geopolitics conflict and climate change.
“Nevertheless, the government has tried its level best to fix the price control mechanisms to ensure the Malaysian Family will not be burdened with the cost of living challenges,” he said in a statement here today.
The Minister added, the decision was made taking into consideration the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) that had been announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently.
Ronald emphasized that the decision to fix the ceiling prices of standard chicken and egg is in line with the cash aid initiative including the additional cash aid amounting RM500 for the B40 group and part of it from B40 group.
He said, 8.6 million BKM recipients had been approved with the households receiving up to RM2, 600 this year. This aid is the highest that has been given by any government to the people. –Malaysia World News
