KUALA LUMPUR: Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the people should not be confused as the current government or “caretaker government” and the “caretaker Cabinet” will continue to function under his leadership before the new Federal Government is formed.

“The people must not feel or confused as if there is no government as the former government still remains as the ‘caretaker government’.

“Even the Cabinet is still functioning as a ‘caretaker Cabinet’, excluding those who did not contest in the 15th General Election or those who lost, because they are not Members of Parliament (MPs) anymore.

“A special Parliament session would be held to table a budget before Dec. 31 2022 so that the salaries of civil servants could be paid if a new government had not been formed by then,” he said in a statement.
He added, the special Parliament session would be a brief session without debates and urged civil servants to be calm and not to worry about their salary payments.

“To ensure civil servants can receive their salaries for January, 2023, the budget must be tabled before Dec. 31 2022,” Ismail said. – Malaysia World News
