PUTRAJAYA: Businessman boss who has allegedly beaten his two bodyguards and threatened them with a gun because they were fasting during Ramadan has been arrested and remanded.

Four men, said to be his employees, were also arrested and remanded to assist the investigation into the alleged assault.

Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said if the allegation is true the authorities will take a stern action against the suspect.

” As a Malaysian, he ( the businessman) should know that Muslims do fast during Ramadan,” Hamzah told reporters at a press conference after attending the round table talk with non muslim groups on the usage of kalimah Allah in Serdang here today.

The victims lodged a police report yesterday (April 14) alleging that their boss was angry because they were fasting during Ramadan.

South Klang district police said the employer also took a pistol from one of his men and pointed it at them while insulting them.

The case is being investigated under Sections 324,506 and 298 of the Penal Code.

All suspects will be remanded at the Klang.
