BN won CH by- election a big slap to PH

CAMERON HIGHLANDS 26 JAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) won the Cameron Highlands parliamentary by-election today following the victory of its candidate, Ramli Mohd. Noor securing 12,038 votes winning over three other contenders.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidiate M. Manogaran drew 8,800 votes while two other independents candidates, a former lecturer Sallehudin Ab. Talib took 314 votes while farmer activist Wong Seng Yee scored 276 votes.

The by-election results were announced by the by-election manager at the votes counting centre here this evening.

According to the manager (Datuk Ishak), Ramli garnered majority votes of 3,238 while 568 were spoilt votes.

With the victory, the former police officer, Ramli Mohd. Noor will be the first Orang Asli Member of Parliament in the Dewan Rakyat.

BN’s victory in Cameron Highlands is the opposition’s first by-election victory after a series of defeats to PH in four elections held in Sungai Kandis, Seri Setia, Balakong and Port Dickson.
