Kuala Lumpur: The presence of Member of Parliament (MP) Gelang Patah, Lim Kit Siang in Dewan Rakyat today had raised tension amongst Barisan Nasional (BN) Members of Parliament (MPs) who describe him as “hantu” or devil.
The MPs of Barisan Nasional called Lim “hantu” after the Speaker said, “I just keep a blind eye on his (Kit Siang) presence.”
The BN MPs also asked Lim to go out (“keluar”) but he resisted and stayed in the Dewan.
Lim Kit Siang was suspended from attending the parliament yesterday after he had demanded an explanation as to why the Election Commission’s redelineation report was embargoed and not want to sit down.
However, he ignored that and he is still attending the parliament today, even though he was suspended for six months.
The Speaker of Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Pandekar Amin Mulia today said, the suspension of Lim Kit Siang for going against the meeting proceeding yesterday (Wednesday) was not his (the Speaker) decision but was mooted by the Dewan and agreed upon.
“When he was ordered to leave the Dewan, he should stand up and leave…We do not want the police to handle him,” the speaker said after launching the book “Mahadzir Khalid Semua Kita Serupa” (All of us the same) at the Banquet Hall in Parliament today.
When he is suspended he should not participate in any proceeding in the Dewa, the Speaker said.
“The problem is – as opposition leaders, they feel that they have a big license and always right,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Datuk Seri Mahadzir Khalid said, as a political leader he (Kit Siang) should show good values and respect the others.
“As a veteran MP, he (Kit Siang) should understand very well about the meeting proceedings and what is expected of him but instead he is intolerable and did not respect the “speaker”.
“The people should reject leaders who behave like him as we are in a multi-racial and religious country,” he said.
