PETALING JAYA: Bangladeshi national has been jailed four months for overstaying in Malaysia.
The sentence was meted out by the Muar magistrates’ court on Nov 16 under Section 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act.
The Bangladeshi, 29, was first arrested on Nov 5 after making racist remarks on social media over Deepavali festival.
In a TikTok viral video, the bearded man was seen describing the festival as a celebration of the infidels and told people in general not to follow it.
He is still being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) for allegedly threatening public order and peace with the racist clip.
The investigation regarding the racist remark is still pending, according to Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
