MELAKA: Azlina Abdul Rahman announced in a press conference today (Nov 5) she has resigned from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
The national secretary and state chief of the party women’s wing (Srikandi) said she relinquished all her posts because she lost confidence in the leadership which, she said, side-lined women in the nominations of candidates during the 15th General Election (GE15).
She also announced that many leaders from Bersatu are resigning as well.
“I am resigning from all my positions in the party together with other Srikandi leaders, namely, state Information chief Rohani Ahmad, Alor Gajah and Hang Tuah Jaya divisions, Pengkalan Batu, Ayer Keroh and Bukit Katil branch chiefs.
“This means, 200 from Srikandi are no longer with the party.
“The mass resignations had also led to the dissolution of Melaka Srikandi as well as the party’s Jasin division,” she said as quoted by the Star.
Jasin Bersatu division deputy chief Mustaffar Ahmad has also confirmed he and all his committee members have resigned, he told reporters at the press conference.
