Cyberjaya: “All governments in the world promote entrepreneurships but people cannot just go to the streets and open their businesses like what they used to do,” said Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Ashran Dato’ Ghazi.
Existing entrepreneurs and aspiring ones are constantly looking at new ways of doing things.
“Just as how our minds work and share across for executions, business needs to be reemphasized and reinforced constantly and continuously,” Ashran told the media after launching MaGIC Academy Symposium 2017 (MA2017) with the theme “Disruptive Entrepreneurship for Malaysia’s Start-up Ecosystem.’’
To create a sustainable business, it is important to have high sense of creativity and innovation. For that to happen, an entrepreneur should have an open mindset and willing to share ideas and new knowledge with others, he said.
According to Ashran, disruptive entrepreneurship is a timely theme this year as MaGIC intends to help nurture Malaysia’s thriving ecosystem further by driving entrepreneurship development, building creativity and innovation capabilities through the local growing talents.
“We encourage participants to take part in the four key pillars namely troubleshooting, growth and opportunities, future trends as well as talent and career in our four day symposium starting 4th to 7th October.
“We hope participants’ experience in MA2017 will inspire their entrepreneurship journey with tangible skills and capabilities, real learning, valuable insights and new connections,” Ashran said.
Meanwhile MaGIC Academy Executive Director, Jonathan Lee said, amongst the content of the symposium is “Future Trends” which is a very exciting topic.
“In order to build the local entrepreneurship ecosystem, we ourselves need to be at the forefront and see what is happening globally,” he reiterated.
For this session Jonathan said, speakers from all over the world are specially brought to share their experiences and thoughts with the participants.
The symposium will be concluded with the largest start-up career fair in South East Asia. About 103 start-ups offering 300 job vacancies will be participating in the fair.
On the career fair, Ashran said, it is very important venue for those who aspire to be an entrepreneur to find opportunity to work with other entrepreneur before jumping into the business world.
“It is an indirect learning process. People who are interested to venture into business will recapture and immerse themselves to understand the pains and challenges, and these learning processes from the organization are priceless,” he said.
About 2,000 participants including fresh graduates and job seekers will be present at the career fair. Meanwhile, 68 speakers from Malaysia and abroad will share their experiences in the MA2017 symposium which is held on its fourth year now.
