Anwar Ibrahim had a landslide victory in PD

Port Dickson: PKR President-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had a landslide victory with a majority of 23,560 by defeating six other opponents at the Port Dickson by-election today.

Anwar’s opponents were Lt. Kol.(Rtd) Mohd. Nazari Mokhtar (PAS) received 7,456 votes; Anwar’s former aide Mohd. Saiful Bukhari Azlan (Independent) had 82 votes; Tan Sri Isa Samad (Independent) got 4,230 votes while three other independent candidates Kan Chee Yuen received 154 votes; Lau Seck Yan with 214 votes and Stevie Chan received 337 votes.

Meanwhile the turnout of voters was 58.2% from 43,489 registered voters; 598 votes rejected and 49 voting papers not returned.

By winning the Port Dickson Parliamentary seat, Anwar will be joining the next Dewan Rakyat session due shortly.

This victory will also enable Anwar to take over the Prime Minister’s post from Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad after two years leading Pakatan Harapan (PH) government as being agreed by Pakatan in January this year.

In the 14th General Election, Port Dickson parliamentary seat was won by Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah with 17,710 vote majority.

Danyal resigned on 12th September to make way for Anwar to return to Parliament.

The Port Dickson by-election was the fourth held since the General Election on May 9th .The other three were for Selangor State Assembly and they were for Sungai Kandis, Seri Setia and Balakong and all were won by Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates. –Malaysia World News
