Opposition party Anwar Ibrahim and the MPs backing him as the candidate for the Prime Minister post have not been invited to Istana Negara, which means he has lost the bid to become the ninth Prime Minister.
Only Ismail Sabri Yaakob `s MPs supporters, including himself, have been called to meet the the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today to confirm their identity and choice.
Umno vice-president, Ismail Sabri has apparently secured a majority support with 114 MPs, while opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim managed to get the backing of 105 MPs only.
To become Prime Minister, the candidate has to demonstrate he has at least 111 MPs support for simple majority.
