KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — Umno MP Tan Sri Annuar Musa, as many other leaders from UMNO party, denies he knew about the existence of an alleged secret bank account for Umno.
He said, he has never heard or known about such thing in his 20 years as party supreme council member.
“Umno private account? Bersatu leaders and other parties should not issue accusatory statements. It does not bring any benefits.
“I have been a member of Umno Supreme Council for more than 20 years. Umno has never decided to open a secret/confidential account. Only God knows,” he posted on his Twitter account today
It was also reported that Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin and Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz have also denied they had any knowledge about such a secret account.
Earlier this week, during proceedings, the prosecution led by DPP Muhammad Saifuddin Hashim Musaimi told the court that the police discovered the existence of a secret unaudited bank account held by Umno. The bank account was allegedly opened in Southern Bank (which was acquired by CIMB Bank in 2006) at Wisma Genting in 1988.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia supreme council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na’aman has urged for the Registrar of Societies to investigate the matter, following the claim made in court.
