KUALA LUMPUR FEB.13: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah hopes the current Unity Government will stay until the end of its five year term.

Al-Sultan Abdullah said, he also hopes Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be the last prime minister before his term ends and returns to Pahang Darul Makmur.

“I had faced four different governments since my appointment as Agong on 31st January 2019. I am the only Yang di-Pertuan Agong who had been given the strength to have such an experience,” Al-Sultan Abdullah said in his Royal Address for the first meeting of the second term of the 15th Parliament sitting.

His Majesty added, after the 15th General Election (GE), for the first time in the history of Malaysian democracy, the country had the hung Parliament. With that he had to shoulder a heavy trust to choose and appoint a prime minister.

Al-Sultan Abdullah added, after the 15th GE, there was no political party or dominant coalition that had obtained a simple majority. The Federal Constitution had required him to appoint a prime minister among the members of Dewan Rakyat whom he felt had garnered the majority support of the members of Dewan Rakyat.

“I have opened up the widest space for the honoured Members of Parliament (MP) to discuss and find an agreement on the principle of unity for the future of the country.
“After taking the approach that had been stipulated in the Federal Constitution, on 24th November 2022, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was appointed as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia,” Al-Sultan Abdullah reiterated.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also mentioned that the Malaysia Unity Government has been formed in line with his aspiration to form a stable and strong government. With that the government has focused on the efforts to strengthen their determination to guarantee political stability and generate economic growth that will guarantee the prosperity of the people.

“I appreciate the introduction of Negara Madani initiative that includes sustainability, prosperity, creativity, respect, confidence, humanity and grace. It is my hope that the principles will be translated well in the framework to create a surge for the country,” Al-Sultan Abdullah said. –Malaysia World News
