Egypt Ashraf appointed President of Asian Journalist Association (AJA ) and Malaysia Norila Daud Senior Vice President

SEOUL  17 APRIL  –  Ashraf Aboul Yazid  from Egypt has been appointed as  the new  President of  Asia Journalist Association (AJA)  for the term 2016/18.

Ashraf, the winner of the Arab Journalism Award in Culture 2015 and Manhae Grand Prize In Literature 2014, was announced as the new president at the General Assembly of AJA on the 15 April.  He  took  over  Ivan Lim Seng Choo from Singapore who has been leading the association from 2009-2016.

Meanwhile,  Norila Daud, the former president of Malaysia National Union of Journalists ( NUJ), and who has served  AJA for seven years  since 2009 as Vice President,  has been appointed  Senior Vice President  of AJA association.

The Acting President is Eddy Suprapto from Indonesia. He has served AJA  as Vice President for the past  three terms

Bishnu Nishturi from Nepal  has been appointed as Senior Vice President too.

AJA has also appointed the poet and publisher, Pooney Nedai  from Iran  as the new Vice President.

Meanwhile, Seok-Jae Kang from Korea retains his Vice President seat since he started serving  AJA in   2004.

The AJA General Assembly also announced the appointment of two AJA advisors. They are  film director from India, Pramod Mathur,  and Nasir Aijaz, a journalist from Pakistan.

AJA holds its general assembly once in every two years at its secretariat office in Seoul, South Korea.  AJA was established in 2004 with its first president, Lee Sang Kee from Korea (2004-2009) and the honorary president  Ivan Lim , 2009-2016.

AJA has its membership spread through the region including Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Egypt, Iran and Lebanon
