PUTRAJAYA: The government and 30 concession companies have agreed to offer toll free and discount rates to road users at 30 highways nationwide involving RM77.11 million in conjunction with Aidilfitri that falls on 3rd May 2022.
Prime Minister, Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the toll free involves highways belonging to Kumpulan PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) that connects the North-South Highway networks and Anih Berhad (ANIH) connects the East Coast Highway (LPT).
“The toll free will begin at 12 midnight 30th April 2022 (Saturday) until 11.59pm on 1st May 2022 (Sunday) for vehicles of all classes,” Ismail said in a statement here today.
Ismail added, the toll free is offered at North-South Highway and LPT and also on return of highway users to their homes starting 12 midnight on 7th May 2022 (Saturday) until 11.59pm on 8th May 2022 (Sunday) for vehicles of all classes.
Meanwhile the toll discount offers between 30 and 50 per cent will be given at other highways on the same date and time to vehicles of all classes.
The Prime Minister said the government’s decision was made after considering the pandemic impact towards the sources of income for majority of the Malaysian Family and also to lessen the burden of the highway users especially the low income earners.
“At the same time I hope the Malaysian Family will tolerate and be patient with the presence of millions of vehicles on the highways throughout the coming celebration season. Drive safely and always on alert while on the road,” Ismail said. –Malaysia World News
