March 22, 2023 – HRH Yang di-Pertuan Agong and HRH Raja Permaisuri Agong extend their congratulations to all Muslims on Ramadan Al-Mubarak and wish them happy fasting.
In conjunction with the arrival of the month of Ramadan, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong called on all Muslims to reap the blessings of this holy month to further strengthen their piety and double their worship and practice.
Therefore, increase worship and good deeds as well as strengthen the brotherhood of fellow human beings while abandoning all useless and harmful actions. May we be able to perform fasting in the month of Ramadan perfectly so that we can be classified with the pious people in the presence of Allah Subhanahu wa Taala.
The message of Ramadan actually aims to give birth to pious people as Allah Subhanahu wa Taala said in surah al Baqarah verse 183 which means: “O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for the people before you, hopefully you will to be a pious group (to Allah)”.
His Majesty also advised the people that in pursuit of reward it is very important not to waste it by wasting food where food waste is the biggest contributor in the month of Ramadan especially when breaking the fast.
This is contrary to the reality of Ramadan which should be a month that educates Muslims to be modest and not wasteful. What’s more, there is a strict prohibition against extravagance and waste, as Allah Subhanahu wa Taala says through verse 27 of Surah al-Isra’, which means: “Indeed, those who waste are the brothers of the devil, while the devil is a creature who is very disbelieving in God.”
His Majesty expressed the hope that the presence of this glorious month will also be greeted with a sense of repentance and gratitude for the trials, blessings and favors that Allah Subhanahu wa Taala has bestowed upon us.
Their Majesties both invite all Muslims to take the blessings of Ramadan to join them in praying that Malaysia will continue to be blessed and protected from any form of threat and calamity.
