PUTRAJAYA: The formation of the “Handling Inflation Movement Special Team” will play its role among others to collect information from ministries, agencies and the people to frame strategy to address issues related to inflation.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the special team will coordinate and take action more efficiently and effectively in solving the issues related to inflation specifically in controlling commodity prices.
He said, the special team will meet every Monday and Thursday and a press conference will be held after every meeting to give information on issues raised by the Malaysian Family.
“This measure is taken following the increase in the cost of living challenges due to the climate change and the prolong geopolitical uncertainties including the Russia-Ukraine conflict that had impacted the food commodity markets and the fuel.
“The special team will be chaired by Communications and Multimedia Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa and the members include Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Finance; Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry; Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP); Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) and Tan Sri Mohd. Zuki Ali, Chief Secretary to the Government,” Ismail said in a statement.
The Prime Minister added, every ministry will appoint a special officer (focal point) to provide immediate follow up information to the Special Team with the (KPDNHEP) as the secretariat.
Ismail said, the government is consistently implementing its efforts to ensure the Malaysian Family is not affected seriously following the rise in the global inflation. – Malaysia World News
