PUTRAJAYA MAR 25: The Ministry of Health confirmed today that 47 out of 73 staffs were not infected with COVID-19 while treating the victims of the pandemic in the hospitals.
Director General of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 64.4% were infected with the deadly coronavirus after they went to weddings, gatherings, or came back from overseas trip.
“Medical front liners totalling 1,895 who were involved directly with COVID-19 cases had their health tested and out of that 1,167 had negative results while 708 are waiting for the results. So far nobody has been affected with COVID-19,” he said at the media conference here today.
He added, health workers and frontliners are requested to inform their respective heads if they had close contact with any of the tabligh participants in Sri Petaling Mosque (Feb.27-Mar.3), wedding in Bangi (Mar.6) and wedding in Putrajaya on Mar.7.
The wedding incidents he said had caused Covid-19 infections among staff in five hospitals and the worst being Teluk Intan Hospital.
According to the Health Ministry, the tabligh assembly was attended by 14,500 Malaysians.
The Director General also reported that up to date (Wednesday) there were four deaths and 172 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total of 19 fatalities and 1,796 cases.
According to Dr. Noor Hisham, 16 patients were discharged and this brought to the total of 199 recoveries. Out of the 172 new cases, 72 cases were linked to the tabligh assembly at Sri Petaling Mosque. –Malaysia World News
