5,728 new COVID-19 cases with Selangor contributing 3,285 – Dr. Noor Hisham

PUTRAJAYA JAN 30: Selangor contributes 3,285 from 5,728 new COVID-19 cases today adding to the cumulative total to 209,661 while 47,388 are active cases.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 967 cases in Selangor are from the existing clusters including 91 from new clusters namely JalanTrompet and Kampung Hala while 1,500 cases are from the close contact screenings of COVID-19 with two imported cases and 816 from other screenings of the corona virus infections.

Dr. Noor Hisham said, 16 new clusters were formed and out of which 13 were originated from the work places with Johor contributing six including Jalan Suasa, Jalan Riang, Jalan Lombong, Bintang Utama, Bayu Tampoi and Bukit Batu Grisek.

Kuala Lumpur has two new clusters namely Lingkaran Maluri and Desa Tun while Pahang with Tanah Putih and Jalan Ketengah. Sabah’s new cluster is Jalan Lubuk.

Meanwhile three others are formed in the community and it includes Lasak in Perak, Tersat in Terengganu and Pahang with the Taman Amalina cluster.

“From the new cases, 3,780 are involving Malaysians (66%) with 1,943 non-citizens (34%) while five are imported cases affecting two citizens and three foreigners.

“However, 3,805 had been discharged with the cumulative total of 161,527 (77%). From the active cases, 319 had been admitted to the Intensive Care Units with 120 needed respiratory aids. There were 13 death cases bringing the death toll to 726 (0.36%),” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.

The death cases were four from Selangor and two each from Sabah, Labuan and Perak while one each from Johor, Sarawak and Melaka.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) also reported that the daily record of Selangor with 3,285 cases being the highest (57.3%) and from that 2,467 cases (75.1%) were from the clusters and close contact screenings on the grounds.

This was followed by Johor with 792 cases (13.8%) with Kuala Lumpur contributing 480 cases (8.4%).

On another development, 132 cases (2.3%) were related to clusters in the lockups, immigration detention depots and prisons involving Jalan Harapan Prison cluster with 103 cases, Tembok Choh (6), Tembok Taiping (6), Tembok Renggam (5), Matambai (3), Seberang Perai Prison (3), Tembok Sungai Udang (3) and DTI Sepang 2 (3).

The states contributing to the new COVID-19 cases are Selangor with 3,285, Sabah (263), Kuala Lumpur (480), Johor (792), Negeri Sembilan (158), Penang (101), Perak (112), Kedah (99), Sarawak (191), Melaka (42), Kelantan (28), Pahang (51), Labuan (29), Terengganu (85) and Putrajaya (12). –Malaysia World News
