54 deaths, two still missing since the floods hit the country 18th Dec.2021

KUALA LUMPUR: The floods that hit the country since 18th Dec.2021 has caused 54 deaths with two others still in the missing list.

Federal Police Internal Security and Public Order Department Director Datuk Hazani Ghazali said, Selangor recorded the highest number of deaths at 25, followed by Pahang with 21s of noon today.

Meanwhile four deaths were recorded in Kelantan, three in Sabah, and one in Negeri Sembilan.

“The two people who are in the missing list are in Pahang,” Hazani told the media today.

As of noon today Hazani said, the police’s contingent control centre (CCC) has reported that there are 13,322 people from 3,989 families still affected by the floods nationwide.
He added, since 10th Nov. 2021 the total number of flood victims stood at 505,069 people.

“The police have mobilised 6,042 personnel along with various assets including four-wheel drive vehicles, lorries, buses, vans, boats, safety jackets and tents to the flood-hit states.

“Currently, there were 172 active temporary evacuation centres in seven states, namely Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Sabah. –Malaysia World News
