IPOH: 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) chief executive Arul Kanda Kandasamy believes that  1MDB issue  which  was exposed  more than two years ago since 2015 is no more relevant  and he blames people (mainly the opposition) who continue digging on it as ” irresponsible”.

“The 1MDB issue is old but irresponsible people continue to play it up,” he said In the Bicara Negara forum held in Ipoh Yesterday.

“1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) remains a target for the Opposition because they have run out of things to criticise the Government for,”the Star quoted him as saying.

1MDB chief executive officer has also praised BN government, saying the Government had run the country very well.

“The Government has improved the economy and created job opportunities. They (the opposition) cannot oppose Government policies so they have nothing else,” he said during a question and answer session.

Arul Kanda also urged the people not to speculate on the US Department of Justice (DoJ) civil suit against them, which was been filed in 2016.

“There have been no proceedings, defence or decisions yet. They have also recently requested the courts to postpone the case for another six months,” he said

Arul also said 1MDB had never remitted any sum into the private accounts of Prime Minister Najib Razak, adding that this was “based on 1MDB’s own records and the investigations conducted by Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

“I confirm that 1MDB, according to our records and PAC investigators, never paid a sen to the private accounts of the prime minister,” he was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying.
