500,257 people offered jobs via 27 government incentives until Dec.3, 2021 – PM Ismail

PUTRAJAYA DIS.12: The National Employment Council (NEC) has succeeded to provide jobs for 500,257 people via 27 initiatives implemented by the government as of 3rd December 2021.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the number of job seekers employed is more than 500,000 jobs provided by the Ministry of Finance via the 2021 Budget.

Ismail said, this achievement is very meaningful in view of the labour market facing several challenges and hardships during COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020 to the extent unemployment rate has reached the highest of 5.3 percent on May 2020.

“Among the contributors for the success include the Workers’ Employment Incentive Programme (PenjanaKerjaya) and Malaysia Short Term Employment Programme (MySTEP). Until 3rd Dec.2021PenjanaKerjaya has managed to place 221,966 workers and this is above the overall target of 200,000 job opportunities for 2021.

“PenjanaKerjaya has been managed by the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) that provides the salary incentive up to 60 per cent from the monthly salary for the employers and high skill training programme or professional certificate until RM7, 000 to workers,” Ismail said in a statement here today.

According to the Prime Minister, MySTEP is a government initiative worth RM700 million and has succeeded to beat the overall target of 50,000 job opportunities for 2021 that places 61,328 workers on contract basis for at least six months in various ministries, government agencies and government linked companies (GLC).

Ismail added, from that 41,680 workers have been placed in the public sectors while 19,648 workers in GLCs and their strategic partners.

Under the programme the applicants have been placed in various ministries and agencies such as Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Higher Education, Public Services Commission, Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) PETRONAS, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, Employees Providend Fund (EPF) and Khazanah Nasional.

“Since the PenjanaKerjaya 2.0 and MySTEP were implemented in January 2021the number of job offers had always been above the fixed monthly target,” Ismail said.

Prime Minister Ismail also said the government has succeeded in creating more than 123,312 new jobs via domestic investments and 74.2 per cent are under skilled and semi-skilled categories. The number or jobs is part of the new jobs created from the commitments of investors for the year 2021. –Malaysia World News
