BUKIT KAYU HITAM: An under-aged girl is among 49 illegal immigrants (PATI) from Myanmar detained while attempting to enter Malaysia via Malaysia/Thailand border using illegal route.
Second Division Malaysian Infantry Headquarters said, the illegal immigrants were detained at the rubber plantation area in “Op Benteng” under the responsibility of the Sixth Brigade Malaysian Infantry.
“At about 9.30am, 14th May 2022, the Attack and Detain Team (SERKAP) had seen a group of suspects walking to cross the Malaysian border. The officers on duty had detained 49 people found to be Myanmar citizens without valid travelling documents.
“The illegal immigrants were 37 males and 12 females between the ages of 15-48. Among the things seized were 37 hand phones, Malaysian, Thailand and Myanmar currencies and two begs with the seized properties worth around RM15, 878.00,” said the Second Division Malaysian Infantry Headquarters in a statement, Saturday (14th May).
The statement added, the illegal immigrants were taken to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station for further action.- Malaysia World News
