47 illegal immigrants from Myanmar detained at Malaysia/Thailand border

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: Forty-seven illegal immigrants from Myanmar attempting to enter Malaysia via the Malaysia/Thailand border using invalid route were detained in a rubber plantation, Op Benteng sector under the responsibility of Malaysian Sixth Infantry Brigade.
Malaysian Second Infantry Division Headquarters in its statement said, on 18th June 2022, the Attack and Detain Team (SERKAP) that was placed in the fenced area at the Malaysia-Thailand border had traced a group of people hiding near the road that was not paved in the rubber plantation.
The statement added, the staff on duty then acted to trace the people and managed to detain 47 people. Upon checking, it was found that all of them were citizens of Myanmar without possessing any valid travel documents. They were in the age between 15 to 49 consisting 40 males and seven females.
“The things confiscicated from them include 34 hand phones and cash money in Thailand, Myanmar and Chinese currencies and all the things were worth RM27, 608.40 in estimation,” the statement said.
According to the statement, all the illegal immigrants were handed to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station .The team in operation will always monitor the national border and will not compromise with any cross border criminal activities. –Malaysia World News
