PUTRAJAYA DIS 11: The Ministry of Health (MOH) had reported 298 new cases of variant were detected from 19th November to 8th December 2021 bringing the cumulative total to 4,970 from variant of concern (VOC) while 20 cases were from variant of interest (VOI).
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, to date for VOCs there are 4,722 Delta variant cases; 233 Beta variant cases; 14 Alpha variant cases; and one Omicron variant case.
For VOI cases Dr. Noor Hisham said, there are 13 cases of Theta variant; four cases of Kappa variants; and three cases of Eta variant.
Meanwhile Malaysia records 4,626 new COVID-19 cases today bringing the cumulative total to 2,688,149 while 4,690 are cured cases adding the cumulative notal to 2,596,509 or 96.6 per cent.
“From the new cases 20 cases are imported involving 15 citizens and five non-citizens while from 4,606 local cases, 4,440 are affecting the citizens or 96.4 per cent and 166 non-citizens or 3.6 per cent.
“Among those detected with COVID-19, 396 cases have been admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 211 cases requiring respiratory assistance.” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.
According to Dr. Noor Hisham, from those detected with COVID-19, 95 cases or 2.1 per cent were from categories 3, 4 and 5 while another 4,531 cases or 97.9 per cent from categories 1 and 2.
MOH also reported that the infectivity rate of COVID-19 in Malaysia on the whole is 0.97 however Negeri Sembilan has recorded (1.06); Perlis (1.05); Melaka (1.03); Pahang (1.02) and Terengganu (1.00).
Meanwhile, the infectivity rate in Johor, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Kelantan, Putrajaya, Selangor, Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak is below 1.00. –Malaysia World News
