32,467 highest new COVID-19 cases, Selangor records 8.053 cases, infectivity rate in Malaysia 1.01

PUTRAJAYA MAR.4: COVID-19 infections have reached its highest point recording 32, 467 new cases bringing the cumulative totals to 3,528,557 even though the infectivity rate in Malaysia is 1.01 based on the daily cases on 3rd Mar.2022.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 27,629 cured cases have made the cumulative totals to stand at 3,197,298 (90.6 per cent) with 355 cases admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 208 needed respiratory aids.

Dr. Noor Hisham said, 231 cases (0.71 percent) were categories 3, 4, and 5; and another 32,236 cases (99.29 per cent) were from categories 1 and 2.

Elaborating on the cases, Dr. Noor Hisham said, 10,828 (33.35 per cent) are in category 1; 21,408 (65.94 per cent) in category 2; 100 (0.31 per cent) in category 3; 63 (0.19 per cent) in category 4 and 68 (0.21 per cent) in category 5.

“Of the 231 new COVID-19 category 3, 4, and 5 cases reported on March 3, 2022, 60 cases (25.98%) were not vaccinated or had not been completely vaccinated; 115 cases (49.78%) had received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine but had not received a booster dose; 56 cases (24.24%) had received a booster dose; 127 cases (54.98%) were aged 60 years and above 74 cases (32.03%) had co-morbidities; and 1 case (0.43%) of cases was involving a pregnant mother,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.

The Director General of Health added, there have been 11 new clusters recorded with 466 still active, 6,343 have been expired and 6,809 have been formed since the pandemic started in early 2020.

Regarding the COVID-19 infectivity rate, Dr. Noor Hisham said, Sarawak has recorded the highest with 1.43; Perak 1.29; Terengganu 1.19; Negeri Sembilan 1.16; Kuala Lumpur 1.15; Pahang 1.13; Perlis 1.11; Selangor and Pulau Pinang 1.09; Labuan 1.05; Kedah and Melaka 1.04;Kelantan 1.03; Putrajaya 1.02; Johor 0.95 and Sabah 0.94.

In another development, Selangor has recorded the highest daily cases with 8,053; Sabah 2,717; Johor 1,979; Sarawak 1,206; Kuala Lumpur 2,881;Kedah 3,242; Kelantan 1,739; Pulau Pinang 2,488; Perak 1,713; Negeri Sembilan 2,045; Pahang 1,912; Terengganu 993; Melaka 821; Labuan 270; Putrajaya 135 and Perlis 273. – Malaysia World News
