KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney General Chambers (AGC) stressed that the application to discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) on 47 charges against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was based on the reasons that had been presented and accepted by the court.
AGC in its statement said, this is to explain on the media reports stating that the Attorney General’s action not to continue with the allegations against Ahmad Zahid as immoral.
The statement added, the High Court Judge, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah when making the decision said that the prosecutor had presented cogent reasons.
The UMNO President had been on court hearing proceedings for 47 charges namely eight on corruption, 12 breach of trust and 27 money laundering cases involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
He was accused of committing the offences between March 28, 2016 and April 11, 2018.
Ahmad Zahid was charged on Oct.19, 2018 and has since been ordered to enter his defence. –Malaysia World News
