KOTA BARU: Around 32,000 foreign plantation workers From Indonesia and Bangladesh are arriving in Malaysia this month.

Industries, Plantations and Commodities Minister, Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said foreign workers should be fully-vaccinated and the plantation companies have to provide them suitable places for quarantine upon arrival.

“They will arrive in Malaysia in stages this month. Many Malaysians aren’t ready to take on these jobs (in plantation).

” Perhaps when we have acquired new technologies, we can then offer more lucrative salaries to compel Malaysians to enter the sector,” she told reporters at an event here yesterday.

“My target is to increase commodity exports to RM180 billion. So far, we have achieved about RM160 billion,” she added.
