KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said at least 31 per cent of the votes received during the 15th General Election (GE15) were from the Malays.
He said, based on the team of data scientists’ findings, claims that only 19 per cent of the Malays voted for PH was not correct.
“On the whole the Malay voters in Kelantan and Terengganu were low but more than 50 per cent voted for PH in Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Federal Territories and Negeri Sembilan.
“If all the votes received by the parties in the Unity Government including PH, Barisan Nasional (BN),Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and other parties that are with us the total will be two-thirds or more than 15 million of the votes in the GE-15,” Anwar said at a special press conference on Monday.
Anwar added, two thirds of the Members of Parliament (MP) are now representing two-thirds of the voters in GE15 and with this the Unity Government has a strong team to cleanse the corruption culture and drive the economic growth.
Regarding the appointment of Nurul Izzah as the senior economic and finance adviser, Prime Minister Anwar defended her by saying that her daughter will not abuse her position.
Anwar who is also the Minister of Finance said, he respect the criticisms and views of those concerned citizens and stressed that Nurul Izzah will not use her position to influence the decision on tenders or contracts.
“She is there to protect and pursue the agenda of good governance and incorruptibility. I need her to assist me with her expertise. She will not receive any remuneration,” he said at PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya. –Malaysia World News
