3,010 new Covid-19 cases, zero infectivity rate in Labuan, Putrajaya, Perlis and Sarawak

PUTRAJAYA JAN.16: The infectivity rate of COVID-19 in four states namely Labuan, Putrajaya, Perlis and Sarawak have recorded zero (0.00) while Malaysia’s infectivity rate as a whole is 0.99.

Ministry of Health (MOH) Director General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, Kuala Lumpur has recorded 1.08, Sabah (1.04), Negeri Sembilan (1.03) Selangor (1.01) and Melaka (1.00).

However he said, the infectivity rate in Johor, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan and Terengganu have recorded below 1.00.

“On COVID-19 situation as of 12 noon today, 3,010 new cases were recorded bringing the cumulative total to 2,808,347 and 2,584 cured adding the cumulative total to 2,735,355 or 97.4 per cent.

“From the new cases, 182 were admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 83 required respiratory assistance,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.

He added, there were seven new clusters recorded today with 176 still active and since the pandemic started in 2020, there had been 6,212 clusters and till today 6,036 had expired.

On the development of floods in the country, Dr. Noor Hisham said, as of 3.00pm today, there was only one temporary relocation centre (PPS) still operating in Johor as only the state was left with the flood.

“Only 74 people were affected by the floods and 15 positive COVID-19 cases occurred at the PPS with no new cases today.

“Meanwhile 471 flood victims had been infected with COVID-19 with no new cases recorded today and only one cluster was formed at the PPS with no additions today,” Dr. Noor Hisham said.

According to Dr. Noor Hisham, there is no infectious disease detected among the flood victims today. –Malaysia World News
