3 RMAF pilots conferred Lieutenant Colonels via “Posthumous”

KUALA LUMPUR: Three Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilots who were killed while performing their duties were conferred promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) via “Posthumous” at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) on Friday.
 
The three RMAF pilots were the late Major Kayamboo s/o Chellam, Allahyarham Major Yazmi Datuk Mohamed Yusof and Allahyarham Major Hasri Zahari.
 
Kayamboo was killed when he flew the Beechcraft King Air 200T at the Butterworth Airbase on 21st December 2016 while Yazmi and Hasri were killed when both were flying the Hawk 108 at Chukai, Terengganu on 15th Jun 2017.

The promotion awards were presented by RMAF Chief, General Tan Sri Affendi Buang to the wives of the deceased pilots in a ceremony held at the RMAF Headquarters, MINDEF.
 
The awards were received by Usha d/o Suppiah (wife of Kayamboo); Shofara Izwa Hilmi (wife of Yazmi) and Asysyuhadak Ahmad (wife of Hasri).
 
“The awards conferred to the three RMAF pilots were signs of appreciation for their services rendered to RMAF and the nation,” said RMAF in a statement.
 
Among those present at the event were Deputy Chief RMAF, Lt. Gen. Datuk Seri Ackbal Abdul Samad and Commander Education and Air Exercise, Lt. Gen. Datuk Kamarulzaman Mohd. Othman. Family members of the deceased were present too. –Malaysia World News
