PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak said during his time as Prime Minister he focussed all his efforts on promoting and prospering the country.
He said this as a reply to the Court of Appeal judges who described his SRC International Sdn Bhd case as “embarrassing to the country”.
“During my term, the country’s total assets increased from RM800 million to RM2 trillion. Therefore, I created a lot of wealth (for the country), ” he said in a virtual conference shortly after Court of Appeal judges dismissed his appeal to set aside his conviction, 12-year jail sentence and RM210 million fine on seven corruption charges.
Datuk Seri Najib Razak also said he was disappointed in the Court of Appeal’s decision in upholding his verdict.
“I am very disappointed in the decision made by the court this morning,” he said.
Earlier, after the Court of Appeal upheld the conviction of Najib, Judge Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil said, ” This (case) is a disgrace to the country.”
