PUTRAJAYA FEB.28: The COVID-19 infections have dropped to 24,466 cases bringing the cumulative totals to 3,419,636 while 22,380 cured cases adding the cumulative totals to 3,085,940 or 90.2 per cent as of 27th Feb.2022.
COVID-19 new cases had been high reaching over 32,070 being the highest on 24th Feb. and the cases began to drop at 30,644 on Feb.25 and 27,299 on Feb.26 2022.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 353 cases had to be admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 193 cases requiring respiratory assistance.
Dr. NoorHisham said, 105 cases (0.43 percent) were categories 3, 4, and 5; and another 24,361 cases (99.57 per cent) were from categories 1 and 2.
Elaborating on the cases, Dr. Noor Hisham said, category 1 consists of 8,704 cases (35.58%); category 2: 15,657 cases (63.99%); category 3: 51 cases (0.21%); category 4: 34 cases (0.14%) and category 5: 20 cases (0.08%).
“From the 105 new COVID-19 cases of categories 3, 4, and 5 reported on 27 February 2022, 25 cases (23.81%) were not vaccinated or had not been completely vaccinated; 56 cases (53.33%) had received two (2) doses of COVID-19 vaccine but had not received a booster dose; 24 cases (22.86%) had received a booster dose; 53 cases (50.48%) were aged 60 years and above; and 36 cases (34.29%) had co-morbidities,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.
Regarding clusters, Dr. Noor Hisham said, five new clusters were formed with 484 still active, 6,295 clusters had expired and 6,779 clusters had been formed since the COVID-19 pandemic started in early 2020.
In another development, the COVID-19 infectivity rate in Malaysia has dropped to 1.05 based on the daily cases as of 27th Feb.2022, followed by Perak recording 1.32, Labuan 1.27; Sarawak 1.24; Terengganu 1.22; Perlis 1.21; Negeri Sembilan 1.17; Pahang 1.15; Pulau Pinang , Kuala Lumpur and Selangor recording 1.13; Kedah 1.11; Kelantan 1.08; Putrajaya 1.08; Melaka 1.08; Sabah 1.07 and Johor 1.00. –Malaysia World News
