KUALA LUMPUR JULY 5: Senior Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had attended the event for the departure of 235 hajj pilgrims from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) to Makkah at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here today.
The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) in a statement said, accompanying Hishammuddin were the Ministry’s Chief Secretary Datuk Seri Muez Abdul Aziz and Head of MAF Staff, Lieutenant General Datuk Zakaria Yadi.
The statement added, from 235 pilgrims, 55 are from Malaysian Army, 15 from Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and 36 from Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) besides 76 retired army under the Department of Veteran Affairs, 47 civil staff from the Ministry and six MAF staff assisting as “Mutawif” and a medical officer.
“The pilgrims will perform their hajj for 40 days from 5th July until 13th August 2022 and that includes two days travel to and fro and stay in Mina for 10 days while in Makkah 14 days and Medina for 14 days.
“Minister of Defence, supreme leaders of the Ministry and MAF are happy and glad to celebrate the future hajjs of MAF for year 2022 while the last pilgrims sent by MAF were in 2019. In 2019 MAF sent 164 staffs to perform their pilgrimage,” the statement said. – Malaysia World News
