PUTRAJAYA: A 23-year-old Sarawakian woman died today from Covid 19, 10 days after tested positive for coronavirus.

“She was treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on March 30 and died on April 9 at 9.42am,” said Health Director-General,  Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press conference here today.

The victim. who is the first youngest female to die of coronavirus in Malaysia, is believed to have had close contact with some positive cases who were infected in the Kuching church gathering.

“She had a history of close contact with two positive cases, namely Case 2469 and Case 2470. She was also a fifth generation of the Kuching church gathering cluster,” said Noor Hisham.

He added that the woman came to the hospital when she was at stage four.

“She needed oxygenation and ventilation, and she succumbed to the illness,” he said, adding that the patient had a history of thyroid illness.

Noor Hisham also pointed that the woman was the second person to die of coronavirus today. The other victim was a male aged 67.

Initial investigation reported that he was a participant in the tabligh assembly that was held recently in Sri Petaling Mosque.

The two deaths today brought the death toll to 67,  while the total number of cases hit 4,228 in Malaysia, with today additional 109 new cases. –Malaysia World News
