Implementation of JENDELA is on the right track to achieve its targets – Minister

PUTRAJAYA APRIL 6: The implementation of the Jalinan Digital Negara Plan (JENDELA) has reached all the second quarter targets and is on the right track to achieve other targets that have been set by the government.

Minister of Communication and Multimedia, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said, the development of the implementation of the JENDELA Plan is expected to give quality services broadband to the people nationwide.

“The results of the implementation of the telecommunication projects under this plan has started to be utilised and benefitting all levels of the society.

“The JENDELA phase 1has started and will continue until the end of 2022 with the focus on the efforts to widen the access of the fixed line broadband with the speed of gigabit to 7.5 million premises.

“It also widens the coverage of the 4G mobile broadband from 91.8% to 96.9% in populated areas, increase the speed of the mobile broadband from 25Mbps to 35Mbps and gradually stopping the 3G network in stages until the end of 2021 for stabilising the 4G network and strengthening the basic network of 5G,” said Saifuddin in a statement.

Saifuddin said that after chairing the JENDELA Steering Committee Meeting here today.

He said, realising the importance of 5G in rendering communication services faster, the implementation has been brought a year earlier in the fourth quarter of 2021 instead of the end of 2022.

The Minister also mentioned that the latest development of JENDELA will be announced by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in its briefing on JENDELA Second Quarter Report that will be presented virtually on 7th April 2021 (Wednesday). –Malaysia World News
