PUTRAJAYA MAR.9: The 2,345 discharged cases (93.7%) recorded today adding the cumulative total to 296,379 had superseded 1,280 new COVID-19 cases bringing the cumulative total to 316,269 with 18,704 active cases.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, from the new cases two were imported involving one citizen and the other non-citizen while out of 1,278 cases, 919 (71.9%) were affecting the citizens with 359 (28.1%) non-citizens.
Dr. Noor Hisham added, from the new cases 155 were admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 76 needed respiratory assistance.
“Nine deaths were recorded today bringing the death toll to 1,186 or 0.38%, involving eight citizens and one non-citizen. The deaths were four from Selangor, and one each in Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu, Perak, Sabah and Sarawak,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement here today.
Meanwhile Selangor reported 464 infections (36.3%) and out of which 368 cases (79.3%) were from the clusters and close contact screenings of COVID-19 that were carried out actively on the ground. Johor follows with 165 cases (12.9%) and Sarawak with 163 cases (12.7%).
Five cases (0.4%) reported were related to the clusters in the prisons involving Pengkalan Chepa Wall (2), Jalan Harapan Prison (2) and Jalan Awang (1).
Dr. Noor Hisham added nine new clusters were identified today with six involving work places, two relating to the community and one affecting the high risk group.
The new clusters at the work places were two each from Johor and Kuala Lumpur, Penang (1) and one each in the community affecting Pahang and Johor while one in Kedah involving the high risk group.
States with new COVID-19 cases include Selangor with 464 cases,Sabah (64), Johor (165), Kuala Lumpur (119), Negeri Sembilan (45), Penang (143), Perak (34), Sarawak (163), Kedah (25), Kelantan (16), Pahang (2), Terengganu (36), Putrajaya (3) and Perlis (1). –Malaysia World News
