KUALA LUMPUR NOV.28: Prime Minister and President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu),Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reminds the members of the party not to fight for political power but to rise up to help the people who have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Muhyiddin said, this is the time to give good services and adopting a working and caring politics as many people are waiting and in need of help badly out there.

“Many people including single mothers, the sick, handicapped and others are hoping to get help from us.

“Let us rise to the occasion and not fight for political power. Give the services to the people in need. I am sure the people will appreciate what you have done for them,” said Muhyiddin in his speech in conjunction with the Bersatu Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2020 held virtually today.

Meanwhile on Bersatu’s strength as a new emerging political party in the country, Muhyiddin said, Bersatu cannot be alone in the political struggle but need to have friends from other political parties to face the general election and to form a government.

Muhyiddin added. if Bersatu stands alone in the coming general election, seats could possibly be won but not enough to form a government.
“Today is Bersatu’s AGM and I am sure the party representatives have the rights to know the political situation that we are facing now and what is the way forward.

“What I want to touch is the relationship between Bersatu and UMNO. Some people said the relationship is just plain, not friendly and not close too. It seems like there is no chemistry between Bersatu and UMNO as yet.

“It is well known that part of Bersatu including me is formerly from UMNO. Few friends from UMNO joined Bersatu. I do not want to remind the old story as it has become a history,” he added.

Muhyiddin said, the fact was it had been written in the history that Bersatu and UMNO had become political enemies. UMNO was on the other side and Bersatu was on this side. In the general elections, we were against each other. So possibly, the hurt is still bleeding and the scratch is still seen.

“But with Allah s.w.t blessings, Bersatu and UMNO that had been in political crisis early this year, all of a sudden were seen in the same political alignment (saf). From political enemy in Pakatan Harapan, we are now associate members in the government, “ Muhyiddin reiterated.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) was established officially on 7th Aug 2020 with members from PAS, STAR and SAPP as founding members of PN.

Being a new political coalition, Muhyiddin said, PN has made important achievement in the national political history and surely will make more success in the future.

The Bersatu President also stressed that PN is an important political vision for the people where Bersatu and PAS have collaborated to form a political coalition at the national level and it will be a source of strength for the Muslims and the country.

“At the same time we have political partner from STAR and SAPP that represent the bumiputeras and non bumiputeras in Sabah,” he said.

Muhyiddin also touches on Islam and he believes the religion has to be functioning as a civilizing force with power to build the minds and the Muslim civilization in the “Nusantara” region.

He added, Islam too should become the pillar of unity for the ummah in this country that is very much needed to face the current challenges.

According to Muhyiddin, great efforts have been done to upgrade the abilities of the Muslims in various fields such as economy, education, social, technology and others.

“The high status of Islam as an ad-din has to be in line with the level of the Muslims achievements in all aspects.- Malaysia World News
