Selangor recorded 402 new Covid-19 cases, Sabah 346, 3 new clusters

PUTRAJAYA NOV 21: The third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has not shown much improvement as the daily cases today still remain high with 1,041 adding to the cumulative total to 53,679 with 1,405 patients discharged bringing the grand total to 40,493 (75.49%).

Director General of Health Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, Selangor contributes the highest with 402 cases (38.6%) followed by Sabah with 346 (33.2%) while Selangor also records the highest additional cases of 298 from Teratai cluster (74.1%).

Dr. Noor Hisham said, Sabah has high COVID-19 cases due to the active screening tests carried out by the health staff in the state while Negeri Sembilan has recorded an increase in its positive cases from the existing clusters.

Meanwhile 21 cases or 2.0% from the total daily cases were contributed from the clusters in the prisons namely Jalan Harapan Prison (17), Tembok (3) and Seberang Prai Prison (1).

“From the new cases, 108 patients had been admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) with 45 needed respiratory aids while three death cases had brought the death toll to 332 or 0.6% from the total cases. The deaths were within the age of 55 to 78 years,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement here today.

In another development, he said until 21st Nov.2020 there are 327 clusters with an additional of three new clusters today. Ministry of Health (MOH) is still monitoring 168 existing clusters.

The Director General of Health added, 36 clusters have recorded additional new cases today with Teratai 299, Hentian (79) and Damanlela Construction Site (43).

On the hand he said, two clusters namely Bah Kayu and Lekir are among 159 clusters that have ended.

In the third wave, another three new clusters have been formed today and that include The Jalan Harapan Prison, Sungai Buloh, Selangor. Until 21st Nov.2020 113 individuals had been screened test and 17 were detected with positive COVID-19.

The Kota Kecil cluster said Dr. Noor Hisham was formed in Kota Tinggi Johor with nine cases detected with positive COVID-19 from 467 that were screened test. All of them had been admitted to the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Kluang, Johor.

Meanwhile, the Sky Chocolate cluster was formed in Labuan district, Labuan. Until 21st Nov.2021, 51 were screened test and seven were found with positive COVID-19 and were admitted to Labuan Hospital.

The states with positive COVID-19 cases today include Selangor with 402 cases, Sabah (346), Negeri Sembilan (121), Kuala Lumpur (68), Johor (33), Perak (29), Penang (17), Labuan (12), Kelantan (7) and Kedah 6. –Malaysia World News
