KUALA LUMPUR OCT.29: UMNO Supreme Council Members’ meeting had decided on six important matters among others to return the mandate to the people via the 15th General Election after the COVID-19 pandemic could be controlled and at its minimum level.

UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, the general election is very important to get a new mandate from the people and to form a stable government.

Ahmad Zahid said, UMNO is a party with its policies prioritising the people’s agenda and as such all ministers representing UMNO will remain in the government and are committed to safeguard the people’s welfare and to protect the party’s morale.

“UMNO will remain focused and consistent with the statements that have been released before as “political truce” and national reconciliation are important in the efforts to combat COVID-19, taking care of the people’s welfare and ensuring the political stability of the country,” said Zahid in a statement released after the UMNO Supreme Council Meeting held here this evening.

The meeting that ended at mid-night also emphasized on His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s and the Malay Rulers’ statements that the administration of the country is well managed based on the supremacy of law, respect the “soul” in Malaysian Constitution and do not take the country to a stage of emergency like what had been proposed by the government.

The statement added, UMNO has studied the various opinions and hopes of the people in the National Budget 2021 to be brought to the government and this includes the extension of the moratorium period, providing living allowance for those who have lost their income due to COVID-19, giving assistance to unemployed youths, special allowance for the front liners and several initiatives to increase the growth of the national economy.

According to the statement, UMNO will ensure that the National Budget 2021 will benefit the people and will be approved.

“UMNO will regard any party questioning on UMNO’s decision in supporting Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers as irresponsible and regrettable.

UMNO will not hesitate to take stern action on such behaviours to protect the sovereignty of the Rulers and the interests of the people,” Ahmad Zahid reiterated –Malaysia World News.
