KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Defence has regarded the politician who alleged the terrorists’ aggression in Tanduo, Lahad Datu in 2013 as a drama as rude and humiliating the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the statement made by the political party leader was merely for the interest of certain party and had humiliated the families of 10 staffs who died in the terrorists’ attack.

“Whether he realized that every defence staff had sacrificed his/her life to protect the sovereignty of Sabah and Malaysia besides ensuring this part of the earth had not been captured by the terrorists that had crossed the sea from Siminul Island, Philippines.

“The peacefulness that he enjoyed today was the result of the hard work of the defence team and the security staff from various agencies that had sacrificed every second of their lives in order to secure peacefulness in the country,” said Ismail in a statement here on Monday (Sept.21).

Ismail added, the MAF has just celebrated its 87th Anniversary on September 16 and the politician’s allegation not only reflects that he does not understand but also undermines the sacrifices of the national defence team.

“I would like to remind all parties not to touch on sensitive issues concerning the security and the national sovereignty that could trigger the anger and the dissatisfactions of certain party,” warned Ismail.

Ismail who is also the Vice-President of UMNO Malaysia said that in his response to the statement made by a WARISAN leader, Datuk Muhamaddin Ketapi relating to Lahad Datu tragedy in his campaign in the Sabah State Election recently.

“I am confident if this political leader could come out with a humiliating statement in WARISAN’s campaign then it might possibly be the overall party’s stand if it is not being denied,” said Ismail. –Malaysia World News
