Covid-19: A new cluster formed at the Immigration Detention Depot, Semenyih

PUTRAJAYA SEPT: A new cluster was identified at the Semenyih Immigration Detention Depot (IDD) when a detainee who should be leaving for his country had been detected positive COVID-19.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, the detainee was among the four who were detected with COVID-19 via local transmissions.

Dr. Noor Hisham said, the other three local transmissions included one case from “Telaga Cluster” in Kedah; one case from Cluster IDD Semenyih 2 and one case in Negeri Sembilan from IDD Semenyih 2.

However, with seven imported cases added to the four local transmissions Dr. Noor Hisham said the cumulative total of COVID-19 is now 9,385 with 165 active cases still under treatment.

“The imported cases included five non-citizens who came back from India while the other two Malaysians were detected with COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement on Friday (Sept.4).

Meanwhile, nine cases had been discharged bringing the cumulative total to 9,092 or 96.9% while four cases were treated in the hospitals with one person admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and one needed respiratory aids.

The Director General added, there is no death case recorded today bringing the cumulative total to remain at 128 or 1.36%. –Malaysia World News
