Dr. Noor Hisham awarded the “National 2020/1442 Hijrah/Maal Hijrah Figure”, urges ministries render their services with sincerity

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health and other ministries should render their services to the public with sincerity in the effort to protect the country from COVID-19 pandemic.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, the close cooperation among ministries will save the country from the corona virus attacking the community and the country at large.

“The services should be in line with the spirit of “maqasid al-shari’ah in saving the lives of the people.

“The sincere cooperation will result in a success in protecting and defending the country from the pandemic. With the cooperation the country will not encounter health and economic problems as a result of COVID-19 transmissions in the community,” said Noor Hisham in a special interview in “Selamat Pagi Malaysia” live telecast on TV1 here early today.

Dr. Noor Hisham was named as the “National 2020/1442 Hijrah/Maal Hijrah Figure” yesterday in conjunction with the celebration of the new Islamic calendar 1442 Hijrah held at the National Mosque here yesterday (Aug.19).

Meanwhile, the “International Maal Hijrah Figure” was awarded to Syeikh Al-Azhar Al-Syarif Syeikh Prof Dr Ahmad Tayyib from Egypt.

The names of the award winners were announced by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

Zulkifli said, the award winners were selected based on their contributions in dignifying Islam at the national level and globally.

“Both recipients had received much recognition both at the national and international levels,” said Zulkifli in his speech at the National Mosque yesterday evening.

Zulkifli added, he had received messages from Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tayyib who thanked the Prime Minister and the government of Malaysia for the recognition granted to him.

His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has consented presenting the awards to the winners at the ceremony. 

However, a representative on behalf of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tayibb had received the award from His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Both the recipients received certificates of appreciation and medals.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah was present at the ceremony which was also attended by the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman. –Malaysia World News
