PUTRAJAYA JUNE 15: The government has decided to allow 24,414 kindergartens and preschools to resume its operations on July 1, 2020.

Security and Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the decision was made after the Ministry of Education presented the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the kindergartens and preschools at the special meeting held here this morning.

He said the operations involve 6,216 pre-schools under the Ministry of Education, 7,887 private owned, 1,781 kindergartens under the Ministry of National Unity, and 8,530 “Kemas” under the Ministry of Rural Development.

Meanwhile, the details of the SOP will be announced soon by the Ministry of Education.

On another development, all “surau” and mosques in the Federal Territories are allowed to operate except in the red zone.

Ismail said the mosques and the surau in other states will depend on the decision of the state Islamic authorities.

However, he said, the special ministers’ meeting on the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) also agreed to allow 5,230 worship places to operate.

Ismail added, the worship places could operate on usual day and time with the presence of one-third of the size of the worship place.

“The permission and the resume of the operations will depend on the permission from the state government and the SOPs including the download of MySejahtera apps or giving information manually,” Ismail said in a press conference held here today.-Malaysia World News.
