PUTRAJAYA MAY 30: The Ministry of Health suggests that all immigration detainees and prisoners will have to be tested negative COVID-19 before sending them to the respective centres to avoid the fatal corona virus from spreading amongst the inmates.

Director General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, in the case of the three immigration detention depots namely Bukit Jalil, Semenyih and KLIA, the illegal immigrant detainees have already been placed in the confined place where COVID-19 has also been contained.

“We are still investigating the cause of COVID-19 infections in the three depots which have contributed to the huge number of new cases recently.

“The possibility of the source of COVID-19 infections comes from the staff, the cleaners and the food suppliers as these people come in and out of the centres. Hopefully we will find the source of the infections soon,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in his daily press conference held here today.

Meanwhile, on the current situation of COVID-19, he said, today 30 new cases have been recorded and from that 10 involves the Malaysians, 17 foreigners while three are imported from overseas.
