PUTRAJAYA MAY 30: Starting from June1, weekend husbands and wives are allowed to visit their families involving inter-state travel while the people are generally permitted to cross other states in emergency cases like death, medical and work purposes.

Security and Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the decision was made following the advice of the Royal Police Malaysia (RPM).in the Special Ministers’Meeting on the Implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) held today.

Regarding the directive of universities requesting students to pack their things from the dormitories, Ismail said, the directive had been withdrawn by the Ministry of Higher Education and students could do it when the inter-state travel ban is being lifted.

Ismail also reported, 55,848 students from the higher education institutions have been sent back to their families. Today 574 students have returned to their families via two flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu.

On the question of students furthering their studies overseas during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ismail said, the Malaysians are not allowed to go overseas especially to Indonesia, United States of America and Brazil that are considered as high risked countries for COVID-19 infections.

In another development, permission has also been granted to the Driving and Training Institute besides the Transport and Road Department (JPJ) to operate from 8am until 4pm effective June 1 for the driver licensing process.

“The JPJ has set the standard operating procedure (SOP) in line with the Ministry of Health and National Security Council (NSC) policy like body temperature check, disinfection outside and inside the vehicle before and after it is being used. The capacity and seats arrangements too have to be monitored at all times,” he said in the daily press conference held here today.-Malaysia World News
