PETALING JAYA: Riza Aziz is ready to testify against his step-father Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the trial over 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, the Kuala Lumpur High Court heard today.
“We wish to add Riza Aziz to the witness list as he is ready to give evidence to the prosecution.
“We will make a formal application soon,” lead prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram told High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah.
This move came after Riza was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal and his case charges were dropped.
The producer of Hollywood hit “The Wolf of Wall Street” was charged on July 5, 2019 over five counts related to money laundering of a US$248mil (RM1.25 billion) from 1MDB-linked funds.
Najib is facing 25 criminal charges linked to RM2.28 billion of public funds in the 1MDB trial which resumed today.
He was charged in court after he had lost power in 2018 due to the 1MDB scandal.
