236 Covid-19 patients discharged today in Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA APRIL 6: Malaysia has recorded 236 COVID-19 patients discharged today bringing the total to 1,241,  the highest number since the pandemic started two months ago.

Director General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, today 131 new cases were recorded bringing the accumulative to 3,793 while one was reported dead and that makes the death toll to 62 or 1.63% .

“Form the new cases 102 were sent to the intensive care unit (ICU) while 54 cases needed respiratory aids,” he said in a press conference here today.

Dr. Noor Hisham said, the ministry is now focusing on two small clusters, firstly the group from a church gathering in Kuching ,Sarawak that caused 83 people were infected with the corona virus, two deaths, five in critical condition in ICU, 50 undergoing treatment while 25 were quarantined.

He said, the ministry is also concerned about the cluster where Malaysians in Sarawak came back from overseas with COVID-19 positive. Fortunately until today there is no new infection.

“Another cluster was formed from the group of people who have attended a wedding in Bandar Baharu, Bangi, Selangor where 88 people have been infected with COVID-19 while one person was placed in the ICU.

“I urge the people not to discriminate those who have been infected with COVID-19 and also do not have a stigma on them. We should help those people infected, through tracing them and their contact persons.

“With the help of the police to trace the high risk groups, now we are able to isolate and treat the COVID-19 positive patients,” he reiterated.

Regarding the tabligh cluster, Dr. Noor Hisham said, currently 18,310 samples have been taken, 1,624 have been tested with COVID-19 positive, 11,708 negative and 4,978 are waiting for the test results.

Dr. Noor Hisham advised the people not to be in close contact with animals as they are also vulnerable to COVID-19 and at the same time carry several kinds of other viruses.

Relating to Kluang district that has 3,755 people that have been imposed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) Dr. Noor Hisham said, today 170 people had COVID-19 positive with an additional of 23 cases recorded today while yesterday was 147.

The Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat red zone that was also under EMCO, Dr. Noor Hisham added, out of 1,797 people, 339 have been infected with COVID-19 with 11 additional new cases today. –Malaysia World News
